Suzuki GS150R

Engine
GS150R employs a powerful engine with BS26 carburetor (No Fuel Injection). The engine also gets TPS (Throttle positioning Sensor). GS150R engine is shaped for better riding on city roads. Ideally the bike is designed with an acceleration performance in the low to mid range speeds, important for city driving. The engine is also equipped with engine balancer technology to combat vibrations. GS150R balancer system is fixed with balancer-driven gear fitted with a rubber damper for reducing the impact noises. GS150R 149cc engine develops 13.8 bhp of peak power at 8500 rpm and 13.4 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. It comes with 6-speed transmission. Gear shift pattern is 1-down and 5-up.

Design And Comfort
Suzuki GS150R stands confidently against the competitors with the outstanding look radiated from its cowl, big fuel tank and wolf-eyed headlamp. However, the pilot lamps on either side of the headlamps look bit lousy. The best feature of this bike is the advanced gas-charged fitted with hydraulic suspension system for a comfortable ride. Additionally, the Suzuki GS150R sports digital speedometer with dual modes for different road conditions at varying speeds. But sometimes sunlight may cause reflection of chrome-ringed tachometer on the face.

Ride And Handling
Suzuki GS150R owns digital instrumentation and gear change indicator. The instrument panel looks very good. The bike is slightly heavy while turning and the leaning angle is less due to the absence of monoshock. The comfort level is really good offered by the broader seat and gear shifting of the gears is smooth. The bike offers a mileage of 60 kmpl in the city and 65 kmpl on Highway. On the whole, it is a good package for the commuters in the 150cc segment.

Variants, Price And Color
The Suzuki GS150R is available in Pearl Nebular Black Grey, Metallic Flint Gray, Candy Max Orange, and Candy Dark Greenish Blue.

Yamaha FZ16

Engine
The air-cooled single cylinder motor has a bore x stroke of 58.0 × 57.9 mm translating into a long stroke configuration tuned for low-end and mid-range grunt. The engine has the conventional 2-valves head and it is fed by a 26-mm Mikuni carburetor. The carburetor is equipped with Yamaha's 3-position TPS (throttle position sensor), which works in tandem with the advanced ignition system. The CDI has a 3-dimension mapping control for more versatile power delivery to suit different riding conditions.
The power and torque of FZ-16 doesn't break any new grounds, but it produces enough punch to make it one of the quickest bikes in its class. The 153cc engine has 14PS of power at 7,500rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. FZ16 speeds from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.6 seconds. The gear ratios are well sorted out to give the bike a good mid-range thrust. The 5-speed transmission on the FZ 16 is super-fine and it offers precise shifts even at higher revs.

Design And Comfort
FZ-16's elegant look is largely attributed to its large curvy tank. The well-designed centre panels give a look of pseudo-twin spar frame and they are perfectly in sync with the sharp and edgy tail panels. The headlights and the exhaust have been designed well. The short and stubby exhaust is copied from Yamaha's international FZ1 and it successfully complements the bike's compactness. The wide flat handlebars, the macho tank, rear set pegs and low seat height all together contribute to the comfortable riding posture.

Ride And Handling
The clutch is handy to use and the gearbox is quite smooth. The engine provides ample torque to ride the bike at slow speeds and pulls up strongly in higher gears. It is definitely a wonderful bike for handling the traffic with its wide handlebars and good low end power delivery. The engine performs very well with no signs of fatigue or vibrations even at high speeds. The 41-mm telescopic front forks and the huge monocross suspension at the rear can maneuver the potholes easily. Braking is executed by a 267-mm disc on the front and a 130-mm drum at the rear. The tyre and the strong chassis provide a good traction without any chance of skidding.

Variants, Price And Color
FZ 16 comes in three different colors; Lava Red, Midnight Black and Flaming Orange. The ex-showroom Delhi price of the bike is Rs 65,000/- and same to all the major Indian cities.

Bajaj Platina 125 DTS-Si

Bajaj Platina has been quite popular inside and outside India since its launch in 2006. The old entry level 100cc Platina was based on CT-100. The bike was introduced as the cheapest bike and competed with the Hero Honda. And now Bajaj has unveiled the 125c version using Bajaj Exhaus-Tech technology. This new Bajaj Platina 125 DTS-Si sports alloy wheels, twin headlamps, matt finished black silencer, trendy console, sleek chrome graphics, graphite tinted engine and chrome streaked side panels. Having the same engine of XCD 125 DTS-Si, it is expected to perform as good as XCD attracting a good number of buyers.

Engine
New Platina 125 DTS-Si is slotted with 125 cc engine and adopts next generation technology of DTS SI (Digital Twin Spark Swirl Induction). With the advanced technology Bajaj Platina DTS Si is also equipped with ExhasTEC that ensures better torque even at the lower rpms for superior riding comfort in all road conditions. The brand New Platina is powered by a 4 stroke 125 cc engine that pumps out a fuel-efficient output of 9 bhp with highest pushing power of 11 nm @ 5000 rpms. The twin sparks technology teamed up with an intelligent micro-processor offers an efficient fuel-combustion and promises to deliver an unbeatable 111 kmpl making it India's most fuel efficient motorcycle engine.

Design And Comfort
Slim, short and slightly longer look of the Platina DTS-Si isn't that attention grabbing when compared to other 125cc models like the Honda Stunner. Additional Features in Bajaj Platina 125 DTS-Si are DTS-Si engine, ride control switch, electric start, auto choke, maintenance free battery, anti-friction DU bushes in the front fork, SNS suspension and the twin pilot lamps. It has also got an enhanced mileage claimed to be 111kmpl.

It accelerates to 60kph in 8.4 seconds and can hit a top speed of 96kph. While top speed is not the big deal, this new bike rather deals the fuel efficiency instead making it most fuel-efficient bike in India. The MTL tyres are good but better rubber would have done better. The ride quality on the bike is luxurious with the telescopic front suspension and the first SNS (Spring-N-Spring) rear suspension with the longest travel of 105mm in its class. The seating posture is upright and the handle does not feel vibrations in spite of the bar end weights. Pillions have no complaint about their perch on this bike.

Variants, Price And Color
The available colors of the bike are Red, Black, Blue and Grey and the ex-showroom price of the bike is just around Rs. 39,000 which is something Honda, TVS and the rest will have to worry a lot in this segment.

The New Karizma ZMR is loaded with a 225cc engine, which comes with a premium over the Pulsar 220 and it is fitted with digital ignition system. Additionally it also gets disc brake at the rear, gas charged rear shock absorbers, piffling increase in power and torque. This new bike is all set to redefine the biking culture in its segment setting the adrenaline rush of young bike aficionados on high ride. New Karizma ZMR Fi will be sold along with old Karizma model and Hero Honda has decided not to phase out Karizma R and sell both the models side by side.

Engine

New Karizma ZMR Fi is powered by the same 223cc engine but now it gets fuel injection with the increase in maximum power to 17.6 Bhp at 7000 rpm which comes with an increase by 0.6 Bhp and maximum torque has been increased by .15 Nm which now stands at 18.35 Nm @ 6000 rpm. As Hero Honda claims, the bike can hit a top speed of 126 kmph and 0-6 km in 3.7 seconds which is still slower than the current fastest bike Pulsar 220, able to gain a top speed of 144 kmph.

The PGM-Fi system is equipped with a 12 hole fuel injector, 16 bit ECU and 6 high-tech sensors to scan the engine operating parameters like air pressure, air temperature, and engine temperature for the optimum air / fuel ratio under dynamic conditions. An advanced vertical oil cooler provides efficient cooling to the high performance engine and the IACV (Idle air control valve) ensures idle stability and regulates throttle changes.

Design And Comfort

The New Karizma now looks heavy as it has got front full fairing. It has been touched up with a riot of jazzy graphics with the ZMR stickers. It now comes with the brand new headlamps with integrated blinkers and new tail lamps which are LED ones. The Instrument cluster is the attention grabber in Karizma ZMR. The display now goes full digital including the tachometer designed in round shape under a horizontal digital display which looks very cool especially at night. The display also shows real time fuel consumption which proves very useful in maintaining good mileage. Other aspects include the speedometer, trip meter, fuel indicator, clock and rev counter. The switchgear remains the same and, in typical Hero Honda style, there is no engine kill switch. The instrument cluster features dual colour illumination - the tachometer is lit in white while the rest gets an orange backlight. The split clip on handle bars, new rear mud guard and the split grab rails are the contemporary welcome features.

New Karizma Fi is well made with no panel gaps and top notch paint quality and finish. It now gets a very aggressive look enhanced by the rear view mirrors mounted on the front fairing. But when viewed from the side, the heavy front is not in match with the slim rear. This apart, Karizma ZMR is a bike which can compete against a host of its rivals.

Ride And Handling

New Karizma ZMR is much quicker than the old carburetted version smooth and steady acceleration. As per the claim of Hero Honda it can hit 60kmph from standstill in just 3.7 seconds. Now the fuel efficiency would be maximised because of the fuel injection technology. ZMR offers superior ride quality helped by the sporty telescopic forks at the front and the inverted Gas Reservoir System at the rear. Even with the pillion it offers the ultimate comfort and easily takes on the potholed roads. With the retained ergonomics of old Karizma, the split handle bar lends more comfortable handling. The cowl mounted rear view mirrors is large and shows a clear view. The digital cockpit is certainly a welcome feature which sounds the message of welcome and signing off. The panoramic large display gives the rider everything needed but not in the hot sunshine. Real time mileage indicator, 2 trip meter and digital bar tachometer, digital fuel level indicator, digital clock and digital bar tachometer are the features to analyse data.
